Welcome to
'On the Map' project
We are a group of passionate business people from across the county, working together to put Northamptonshire 'On the Map'.

A brown sign, also known as a tourism sign, is a type of traffic sign used to direct visitors to tourist destinations.

Our aspiration is to secure a brown sign for Northamptonshire at junction 15 of the M1 North.

John Henderson, one of the founders of 'On the Map' group shares,
"Northamptonshire. Widely regarded as a hidden gem.
A gem it most certainly is. From glorious country houses to rolling fields. Towering spires to historic battlefield sites.
But what about it being seen as, well hidden?
You must ask. How can a gem thrive, if it remains out of view?
Recently a group of liked minded businesses and organisations got together to ask this question.
Thousands of motorists use the M1 through the county every day. How can more of them be encouraged to experience those gems?
The result? A voluntary group ‘On the Map,’ was formed with the sole aim of exploring the installation of a brown tourist sign on the M1 approaching junction 15, to make Northamptonshire more gem than hidden.
The heart of the shires, at the heart of the UK transport network, should be the place to explore new adventures.
We think so. We hope you do to."
